About

Robert received a BAA from Ryerson University in Toronto in Film, Photography and New Media. His work at the time focused on large format, graphic, sculptural photographic montages. His thesis work was included in Creativity magazine’s annual showcase and this work evolved into the commercial branding of photographer Edward Burtynsky’s commercial studio, Toronto Image Works.

With an ever-present fascination with digital media, made possible by groundbreaking advances in computer speed and software innovations, Robert pursued a post-graduate in Computer Animation at the renowned Sheridan College. This was the beginning of a global VFX career, spanning 20+ years, working for some of the world’s most creative studios in Los Angeles, London, New York and Toronto.

After decades of success, Robert returned to Toronto to found Dashing, a creative studio focused on high-end VFX and Animation for advertising and film clients. This company, as an idea itself, evolved from a service business to an adaptive, bespoke advocacy, capable of delivering on Robert’s ability to collaborate with senior talent to contribute creatively across various disciplines and deliver complex, unconventional technical creative service at scale.

This “unconventional” jargon is backed by real results —

Via Dashing, Robert has produced, directed, and supervised full-CGI automotive campaigns from within a continentally connected VR workspace, designed and built interactive light installations that implemented custom designed circuit boards, planned and designed cutting-edge user interfaces for a VR software later sold to a major film studio, branded and rebranded multiple studios worldwide, architected VFX studios within existing small design studios to manage impossibly challenging workloads, produced, assembled, and supervised agile, scalable, remote teams to deliver real-time virtual productions, and budgeted, supervised, chosen vendors and delivered 600+ VFX shot feature films for Hollywood studios.
