Tendril built the Coming to America sequence that opens episode five of American Gods, which aired on 28 May 2017. It follows Atsula and her tribe as they cross the land bridge from Siberia twenty five thousand years ago, carrying the god Nunyunnini with them. Tendril set faith against survival and adaptation, and animated it in a stop motion style made from raw materials: twigs, clay, bone and shells.
This wonderful short film that tells the story of the rise and eventual fall of a God into eternity was produced by Tendril and directed by founder Chris Bahry. I had the pleasure to composite some of the shots and color grade the finished film.
