American Gods came back to Starz on 10 March 2019. The opening episode, "House on the Rock", takes the Old Gods to the real Wisconsin roadside attraction of that name and gathers them in its carousel hall.
Mr. X handled the outside. They scanned the real location with LiDAR and photogrammetry, including about thirty of the carousel animals over three nights on set, then rebuilt it and blew it apart. Chris MacLean supervised.
Tendril worked inside: the Viking longhouse interior, and the deity effects for the moment each god shows its true self. Rotomation drove Houdini particle simulations, giving a dense, almost liquid atmosphere for the gods to move through.
