Muse "Feeling Good"

Muse released Feeling Good in November 2001 as a double A-side with Hyper Music, the last single from Origin of Symmetry. David Slade directed a promo for each track, shooting both at Black Island Studios in Acton and splitting one budget across the pair.

Slade set out to make what he called a pop performance piece, the mainstream flip side to the nastier Hyper Music. The finished video went somewhere stranger. Matt Bellamy sits at a keyboard while red petals fall through a hole in the ceiling. Fans with distorted faces come into frame and, as the track builds, start climbing the studio walls as though looking for a way out. A minute in, Bellamy sings through a megaphone with a buzzing distortion on the vocal before the effect and the lighting drop away. A further sequence, Bellamy descending past a pyramid of fan heads, was shot and then cut for time and money.
