Nike launched "Leave Nothing" over the weekend of 7 September 2007, timed to the opening of the NFL season. The 60-second film ran with two 30-second cutdowns, in cinema, online, and in print in Sports Illustrated and ESPN the Magazine.
Michael Mann directed for Wieden+Kennedy Portland. The spot stays with Shawne Merriman and Steven Jackson through what reads as one continuous take, moving between stadiums, opponents, weather and times of day: an entire season compressed into a single sustained run. Mann scored it with "Promontory", an existing cue from his own The Last of the Mohicans, which Ad Age called a departure from the usual register of sports advertising.
Asylum Visual Effects fielded a large team to blend the plates into that illusion of one unbroken shot. Robert Moggach supervised and worked on Flame. The spot took a Pencil at the 2008 One Show in Consumer Television, Over :30 Single.
